Legal Committee

The EFC member-led Legal Committee supports one of the Centre’s core objectives of creating an enabling environment for foundations and corporate funders in Europe.

Recognising that getting the legislation right for independent funders is critical to achieving its vision and mission, one of the Centre’s key priorities is the representation of members’ interests at European Union level as well as globally in an effort to improve the legal and fiscal operating environments for European independent funders.

This focus allows the Centre to stay on top of developments in this area across Europe, particularly with regard to fiscal discrimination cases from one country to the next, anti-terror laws, competition law cases, and the global outlook of more and more organisations that is leading to an increased interest in and need for cross-border giving mechanisms. An important part of this objective is the European Foundation Statute, which will offer foundations an appropriate legal tool to perform and increase their work and operations across Europe.
