How are sessions selected for the Conference?
During the summer 2011, the 2012 Programme Committee will publish a call for proposals on the EFC website. Foundations interested in suggesting a session will submit their proposals (following the Secretariat guidelines), which will be screened by the Programme Committee and published on our website for a vote. The proposals with the highest number of votes will be included in the final programme.
What is a pre-conference event?
A pre-conference event is a meeting organised by an EFC member to coincide with our Annual General Assembly (AGA) and Conference. They differ from conference sessions in that they focus on a specific project of an organisation, EFC Interest Group or committee.
How do I make a request to hold a pre-conference event?
A form for pre-conference events will be available on the website in early January 2012. Stay tuned!
When and where can a pre-conference event take place?
Pre-conference events will take place on Tuesday 6 June. The AGA Secretariat will do its utmost to respect the preferences mentioned in the application form, though due to limitations imposed by the conference venue, the EFC reserves the right to assign any available slot to the accepted requests.
All pre-conference events will take place at the chosen conference venue, the Europa Hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Can a pre-conference event take place during the conference?
No, these events must take place before the opening of the conference to:
- avoid confusion and distraction of conference participants from the many conference sessions
- maintain the Programme Committee's vision for the programme and content of the conference
- ensure the safety and security of our speakers and participants, many of who are high-profile public figures
What is the role of the EFC in organising pre-conference events?
The AGA Secretariat takes care of arranging the venue and technical equipment for the pre-conference events and also provides initial on-site assistance during the events. The AGA Secretariat will negotiate the best possible deals with the hotel, liaise with the hotel to ensure logistical needs are met and announce the events on its programme and on this website, assuming pre-conference organisers meet the specific deadlines.
Do I have to register to attend a pre-conference event?
You do not need to register for the AGA and Conference to participate in the pre-conference events. Nevertheless, some of these events might be open to a restricted group or committee, so please check the conference programme for details on which events are open to all or contact the organiser directly for further information.
