Capacity-Building is one of the four strategic objectives spelled out by the EFC. It is a core tool underpinning and influencing all other activities of the Centre’s work. There is widespread recognition that organisations do not invest sufficiently in building the capacity of their own human resources and that there is a demand for coordinated and targeted trans-national capacity-building activities in the foundation sector.
Following a review during 2008 of the future direction of EFC Capacity-Building activities* the EFC has now started to shape its European programme on "Building Talent and Excellence within Foundations".
What is Capacity-Building? Actions that improve effectiveness - the process of strengthening an organisation and the people working with it to enhance skills, knowledge and confidence.
Where can it happen? Within a work place; between individuals or orgnaisations with similar functions; within communities; within and across sectors.
What forms can it take? "Peer-to Peer" or shared learning; seminars and training, programs; research and evaluation projects; learning materials and guidance; online resources and "virtual" activity.
Stay tuned as the EFC Capacity-Building programme shapes up and presents step by step its services, resources and tools.
