Research, intellectual property rights and a new industrial policy discussed at the Competitiveness Council
At the Council of Competitiveness, Ministers in charge of Internal Market, Industry and Research adopted measures on: researchers’ mobility; the European Research Council and Intellectual property rights.
New EU-wide European Heritage Label for sites with a key role in the EU history
On 9 March 2010, the European Commission proposed to establish the 'European Heritage Label' as an EU-wide initiative.
New European Microfinance Facility to provide 45,000 micro-loans to unemployed and small entrepreneurs
On 8 March 2010 EU Employment and Social Affairs Ministers agreed on a new facility to provide loans to people who have lost their jobs and want to start or further develop their own small business: the European Microfinance Facility.
New ‘Archives Portal Europe’ gives access to digital content from 14 countries

European Commission launches public debate on protecting Europe's forests against climate change
On 1 March 2010, the European Commission launched a public consultation to seek views from interested parties on the protection of forests and possible EU action in the field.
Provide input on future universal service principles in electronic communications networks and services
European Commission Directorate General on Information Society and Media has launched a public consultation on future universal service principles in the area of electronic communications networks and services. Contributions should be sent by 7 May 2010.
Public consultation on a preliminary opinion: Environmental and health risks posed by depleted uranium
The European Commission and the Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks launch a consultation on a scientific opinion on the environmental and health risks posed by depleted uranium. The consultation will run until 12 April 2010.
Contribute to future legislative proposals on social services of general economic interest
The European Parliament is seeking views on the scope, content and options for implementation of the new responsibility it is conferred by the Lisbon Treaty on Services of General Economic Interest.

The Directorate-General for Education and Culture is organising this conference to discuss the involvement and impact of EU programmes with the Roma minority.

The European Citizen Action Service (ECAS) organises this conference in the scope of the project entitled: "European Citizens' Panel: New democratic toolbox for new institutions".

The Commission is currently working towards a paper addressing the issue of improving good governance in the tax area in developing countries.
European Parliament expert hearing on climate change and food in run-up to Copenhagen conference
The European Parliament will hold a public hearing in Brussels on “Global Warming and Food Policy: Less Meat = Less Heat” in the run-up to the world climate conference in Copenhagen on 7-18 December).
