Why and how to take part in the European Year

The Year will provide an excellent opportunity for foundations to advance the equality and non-discrimination issues in their agendas by providing a platform for promotion, networking, knowledge-sharing and partnerships both with public and private stakeholders.

National level

In order to reach out to citizens and meet the specific priorities and needs of each Member State, most activities will be coordinated, defined, funded nationally and implemented at national, regional or local levels. Therefore, there will be many opportunities to get involved in the Year at national level:

In each country, a National Implementing Body (NIB) has been appointed to manage the European Year activities in the country. In addition to defining the national work plan and priorities for the Year, it will be in charge of the implementation of the European Year activities as well as of allocating the funds. These bodies should include, regularly consult and closely cooperate with civil society organisations for both the design and implementation of the Year. Contact the NIB in your country to know more about the activities planned for the Year and to develop close and continuous cooperation during the European Year.
You can also participate in the national activities that will be organised during the Year (e.g. by contributing to campaigns, taking part in meetings and events, or undertaking activities included in the national strategy). For further information on these activities, visit the website of the NIB in your country.

Or organise your own events and use the Year as a “hook” to advance the priorities on your agenda. Funding for the organisation of activities at national level will be made available through the national implementing bodies.

European level
Several events, education campaigns, studies and surveys will be launched at European level. So, there will also be possibilities to get involved in these activities. For further information about these activities, visit the European Year website.
