Belgium introduces tax effective cross-border giving
Belgian law now states that donations to qualifying domestic institutions or to similar institutions from another member state of the European Economic Area, which are recognised in a similar manner, will be tax deductible for the donor.
UK charities extending application of Gift Aid tax relief
By acting as an agent for donors of goods to charity shops, selling the items on their behalf, UK charities are able to claim Gift Aid on the donation, increasing the value of the funds raised through the sale of the items by 28%.
Germany about to introduce tax deductibility of cross-border donations
Mid December, the German Government issued a law proposal, which would introduce the tax deductibility of cross-border donations.
Commission recommends simpler procedure for cross-border withholding tax relief
The European Commission has adopted a recommendation that outlines how EU Member States could make it easier for investors to claim withholding tax relief.
'VAT package' came into force on 1 January 2010
The 'VAT Package', which came into force on 1 January 2010, contains major changes to the rules governing the VAT treatment of services, and a new electronic procedure for claiming VAT incurred in other Member States.

Strategic meeting on VAT and public benefit organisations
The strategic meeting of third sector representatives is to take place on January 29th in London to review how to best build and document the case and if a common position is feasible.
