About GEF

GEF promotes development of civil society in Central and Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union states by providing funders active in the region with a forum to discuss effectiveness of their grantmaking efforts, exchange experience, get inspired and encourage new donor activity in the region.

The forum is a 2-day conference which convenes over 150 participants each year, representing grantmaking foundations, bilateral donors, international organisations and corporate funders.

GEF 2009

The third edition of the Forum was held 10 - 12 November 2009, in Berlin, Germany.  The Steering Committee worked hard to match the success of the previous two GEF's, held in 2007 in Tallinn, Estonia and in 2008 in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
