
On the evening of July 19th, Funders Concerned About AIDS (FCAA) and the European HIV/AIDS Funders Group (EFG) welcomed 200 representatives from more than 75 private, public and multilateral funding organisations to the "Convening and Connecting HIV/AIDS Philanthropy, Building Global Partners" funder reception. This first ever joint convening of FCAA and EFG provided an initial step in creating dialog among funders from across Europe and the United States in an effort to increase networking, find commonalities and explore ways of working together to address HIV/AIDS more effectively.

New Models to Improve HIV/AIDS Health Coverage, May 13, 2009, Rome, Italy
On May 13 in Rome, the European HIV/AIDS Funders Group (EFG) convened two panel discussions focused on “New models to improve HIV/AIDS healthcare coverage”. Presentations by NGOs and foundations explored several new approaches to financing healthcare in developing countries, including voucher systems, community-based health insurance, micro-credit to HIV+ women, equity investments by the IFC in for-profit health companies in poor countries, and GFATM health-system strengthening efforts. More than 30 participants from European and US foundations and international NGOs engaged in a lively debate about the opportunities and challenges presented by community based approaches for effective, direct and sustainable results.

What European Funders can do to increase HIV/AIDS spending?, January 18-19, Annecy, France
The European HIV/AIDS Funders Group organised a learning and networking event on 18 - 19 January 2007. The event was hosted by Fondation Mérieux at their conference centre "Les Pensières" in Annecy, France. The programme featured four themes: children affected by HIV/AIDS; HIV/AIDS prevention - sexual and reproductive health; biomedical research; and palliative care.
