Background and Mission
The Social Investment Group aims to promote and advance social investment practice and mission-connected investing among foundations. It provides a platform for learning, networking and exploration of opportunities for collaboration in this area, including on the creation of new social investment vehicles and benchmarking tools.
SIG focuses its efforts on knowledge development; advocacy and communication vis-à-vis foundations and in relation to potential partners among business and financial institutions in particular; and development and multilateral institutions.
- Regular meetings which feature social investment approaches and key issues in different European countries; initiatives of participating organisations and presentations of research or studies on the field
- Mapping of SI practice by independent funders, e.g foundations, corporate donors and foundations’ consortia that has SI as one of their key objectives
- Developing a knowledge base – bibliography and case studies – on social investment practice among foundations and corporate donors
- Assisting foundation-led projects with partner identification and promotion
- Workshops and sessions on social investment at EFC Annual Conference and other events targeting foundations
