Organised by the Belgian EU Presidency, together with the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education and Culture, the conference “Breaking the cycle of disadvantage – social inclusion in and through education”  will take place on 28-29 September, 2010, in Gent. 

 
The conference will bring together more than 200 European and national policy makers, researchers, practitioners, social partners, stakeholder organisations and other actors to reflect on how to break “the cycle of disadvantage” via education at all levels.

The conference will be opened by Mr Pascal Smet, Flemish Minister for Education, Youth, Equal Opportunities and Brussels Affairs and by Mrs Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism, Youth and Sports.
