The independent Commission of Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society in the UK and Ireland is an independent commission set up by Carnegie UK Trust in the framework of its Democracy and Civil Society Programme to strengthen civil society.
The final Commission report ‘Making good society’ is to be launched in mid-March: ‘Making good society’ will set out the findings of an independent Commission of Inquiry into the Future of Civil Society. The Commission report explores and makes recommendations in relation to the current and possible future roles of civil society groups in relation to four key themes:
- growing a more civil economy
- a rapid and just transition to a low carbon economy
- democratising media ownership and content
- growing a more participatory and deliberative democracy
The Commission is chaired by Geoff Mulgan of the Young Foundation and informed by an International Advisory Group.
