On 15 May the EFC submitted its final contribution to the European Commission public consultation on a European Foundation Statute (EFS), which builds upon the input received from its members and partners. The EFC supports the key conclusion of the EC-commissioned Feasibility Study stating that a European Foundation Statute is the most cost-effective policy option for addressing the administrative and legal barriers that foundations face in their cross-border activities. A snapshot of EFC’s contribution is provided below.
The European Commission has informed delegates taking part in the EFC conference session “ The time is right for a European Foundation Statute” in Rome on 15 May that quite many foundations have submitted a contribution and that the Commission services will take all replies into account until 31 May. Responses that come in after that date will be considered only if the situation permits. Therefore, the EFC strongly encourages its members and partners to send their contributions if they have not already done so by the end of May by e-mail to: markt-consultation-ef@ec.europa.eu. The number and quality of contributions supporting the Statute will help to persuade the Commission of the demand and need for a Statute.
EFC members were also informed last week that all responses to the consultation will be published on the Commission Website in the coming weeks at: http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/company/eufoundation/index_en.htm unless objected by the contributors on the grounds that publication would harm their legitimate interest.
