(01/06/2010 )

Check out the Foundation Week video blog, which features interviews with participants, and follow the action on Twitter and Facebook.

“Visionaries for a just and peaceful world” was just one of 30 thematic sessions during this second day of Foundation Week. Through the Visionaries programme, seven individuals were given five years’ funding to go and change the world, and today journalists and the public found out how they got on.

The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) revealed how the winners, selected from 1,600 applicants, have succeeded in reaching their goals of bringing justice to illegal enclaves; establishing an independent diplomacy service; building an economics of equality; pointing the way to a sustainable food future; saving lives through health broadcasting; and building peace within local communities. The Visionaries - Karen Chouhan, Roy Head, Mark Hinton, Heather Parker, Carne Ross, Clive Stafford Smith, Geoff Tansey - described their experiences.

Topics covered in other sessions included peace and security, how technology and social media are changing philanthropy, children and youth, among many others.
