Director, Institutional Philanthropy/Europe at Salzburg Global Seminar  ( 01/07/2010  )
 

The Director, Institutional Philanthropy/Europe is the Seminar’s lead fundraising professional in Europe, reporting to the Vice President, Philanthropic Partnerships. S/he works closely with senior management in Europe and in the U.S. in setting fundraising goals consistent with program and institutional priorities.

This position will concentrate on development of philanthropic relationships in Europe, and it is preferred that the Director resides in Salzburg, Austria, the Seminar’s program base of operations. The Director, Institutional Philanthropy/Europe seeks the involvement and financial support of donors based in Europe including foundations, corporations, government agencies and international organizations for program and institutional purposes. S/he takes a leading role in creating funding strategy in Europe and engages program and management colleagues in identifying, cultivating, securing and maintaining relationships that result in financial benefit to the Seminar.

The Director’s responsibility involves increasing financially beneficial grants and partnerships involving European sources, both restricted and unrestricted, for project as well as capital and endowment purposes. In the first year, the primary focus will be on grants for program development and projects. The establishment and maintenance of strong relationships with major donors, including preparing formal reports and maintaining informal communications are important parts of the director’s duties.

The Director should be fluent in at least English and German. The work will be pan-European but it would be advantageous to have experience of development work in Germany.
