
Pakistan has been affected by the worst floods in living memory – around 20 million people have been affected. EFC members are responding in various ways:
Amgen Foundation
Amgen Foundation has made a $100,000 donation to the Pakistan flood relief efforts; $50,000 to International Medical Corps and $50,000 to UNICEF. In addition, the Amgen Foundation will match staff members’ contributions on a 1:1 basis through the Matching Gifts Program.
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
"On August 4, 2010, the foundation awarded a $700,000 grant to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to address the most pressing needs of the affected population. This grant will fund the distribution of basic necessities and hygiene kits, and provide water and sanitation services, as well as emergency health care to 150,000 flood-affected victims. IRC has a long-standing presence in Pakistan and a proven ability to efficiently respond to complex, challenging environments." Read more

FXB Founder Albina du Boisrouvray urged the world to take up response to the children and families in need that were affected by the floods. Read more
Johnson & Johnson
Johnson & Johnson has donated cash and products through its 3 Pakistan business Units (Consumer, Pharmaceutical and Medical Device & Diagnostics) and has sent a shipment of three Disaster Relief Modules.
The J&J Pakistan Contribution Committee is working with several partner organisations to reach the affected areas with the donated products and is coordinating cash donations to organisations, regional colleagues and partners.
Johnson & Johnson is committed to continue offering support as needed and to help in the initial phases of recovery and rebuilding efforts in Pakistan. Read more

Medtronic Foundation
"Medtronic, Inc. has pledged $100,000 through the Medtronic Foundation to support flooding relief efforts in Pakistan.
The $100,000 will be directed to the American Refugee Committee (ARC) to support mobile health teams working in the affected regions. Medtronic employees worldwide also are offered five days of paid leave to assist in relief efforts.
This donation is in addition to an existing five-year, $500,000 grant to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies disaster relief fund, which ensures that immediate financial support is available for responding to emergencies." Read more
Open Society Institute/Foundations
"In response to unprecedented devastation and human suffering caused by the flooding in Pakistan, the Open Society Foundations today (17 August) announced it would give an additional $5 million to its foundation there to respond to the humanitarian crisis.
In the immediate future, the $5 million will support emergency provisions like food, clean water, tents and shelter, medicine and medical supplies to people in flood-hit areas. The foundation also hopes to support reconstruction projects like restoring roads and bridges, repairing the electricity infrastructure, and rebuilding homes." Read more
Oxfam UK
"We are currently providing clean water and hot meals to over 480,000 people. In total, Oxfam aims to reach around 1.3 million people with clean water, sanitation kits and hygiene supplies.
Our emergency response includes trucking water and installing tanks to help prevent the spread of water-borne diseases.
We are also providing hygiene kits to help people who have lost everything in the floods, and planning to distribute cooked food as well as running cash-for-work programmes." Read more
