Non – discrimination
With the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty, the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union became legally binding. Furthermore, the Lisbon Treaty provides for EU accession to the European Convention on Human Rights. The European Court of Human Rights and the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights have decided to publishe an Handbook on European case-law concerning non-discrimination. It presents, in an accessible way, the case-law developed by the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union in the field of non-discrimination.
Roma inclusion
This publication “Working together for Roma inclusion: the EU framework explained” provides guidance on the key elements of the EU Framework adopted on 5 April 2011 that proposes a new approach to addressing the problem of deep social and economic exclusion experienced by Roma people living in Europe. The leaflet also highlights existing good practices and tools that can provide support and help orientate policymaking.
Social dialogue
Since the beginning of European integration, the European social partners have played an important and ever increasing role in the field of social policy. This brochure “Consulting social partners: understanding how it works” focuses on the consultation mechanisms and explains how the consultation of European social partners works.
Volunteering
On December 5, the first State of the World’s Volunteerism Report (SWVR) by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme was launched. The report aims to support the recognition, facilitation, networking and promotion of volunteerism worldwide. It gives an overview on voluntarism in the 21st century across the globe and clearly shows the important role of voluntarism in our societies.
