The Johnson Center for Philanthropy is now accepting applications for interested parties for the Frey Chair for Family Foundations and Philanthropy:
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree required, Ph.D. preferred
- Five or more years experience in senior level roles in philanthropic organizations such as a trustee, staff, or advisor for family foundations preferred
- Record of scholarship in the field of family philanthropy including publication in related scholarly, philanthropic, public administration, or business journals preferred
- Research, writing, teaching, and communications skills preferred
- Proven ability to work across organizational lines and in a team-oriented setting
- Willingness to travel and to locate in western Michigan
Responsibilities:
- Implement a program of research that will define the knowledge base of family philanthropy and publish the results in both learned and practitioner-focused media
- Devise programs of executive education through symposia and classes in The Grantmaking School to enhance the performance of family foundations donors, trustees, staff, and advisors
- Teach in the graduate program at the University’s School of Public and Nonprofit Administration
- Forge partnerships with key internal and external constituencies
- Work closely with a national advisory committee and/or a pool of identified national advisors to keep the programs of research and teaching relevant to field needs.
- This position will be appointed as a member of the faculty of the School of Public and Nonprofit Administration and will be either tenure or non-tenure track depending upon the individual circumstances of the selected candidate.
