Fundación Luis Vives has strengthened its commitment to promoting active citizenship by launching a new webpage dedicated to citizen participation.
In this page the foundation underlines the complexity and the different levels of participation of people in society, examines the meaning of “citizens participation”, the different way of engagement and the role of the NGOs in the involvement of citizens by means of formal and non formal participation.
A specific section is devoted to the initiatives that the foundation has promoted in the field of citizen participation, from the consultation on citizenship to the participation of third sector organisations to consultations on issues of interest both promoted by the European Commission.
This initiative is particularly relevant as 2011 is the European Year of Voluntary activities which are indeed a form of active participation and one of the main resources of third sector organisations.
