Under the theme « Foundations and Social Innovation », the International Meeting of Foundations for Social Innovation will be held in Montreal on 13-15 October 2010.
Organised by the Pole of foundations from Quebec for innovation and social transformation (Pôle des fondations québécoises pour l’innovation et la transformation sociale), the European Pole for social economy foundations (Pôle européen des fondations de l’économie sociale) and Asfondes, the event is organised under the joint leadership of EFC member Fondation Macif (France) and the Fondation pour l’éducation à la coopération et la mutualité (Quebec).
This meeting targets foundations of all over the world who intend to participate to innovative actions at different levels of social, economical, cultural and environmental issues. It mainly scopes the internationalization of relationships, exchanges, programs, experiences as well as best practices in social innovation.
More specifically, the objective of such an event is to encourage foundations to get closer, provide a forum to debate key subjects related to social innovation. With the collaboration of keynote speakers, researchers and field actors, we will discuss about activities in various fields, such as territorial development, health, education, sustainable development, reducing poverty and social bonds.
This meeting results from the efforts undertaken in 2004 by the Macif Foundation from France, aiming and developing an international network of foundations, able to sustain innovation and social transformation. Since 2008, the network put together in Quebec presents noticeable progress. These two poles gathered at a first international meeting apart from the Mont-Blanc Meeting in November 2009, agreed upon a second meeting on social innovation in Quebec, in the fall of 2010.
It is an excellent opportunity to develop national and transnational cooperation that will add a strong social value to projects. In Quebec, since 2008 noticeable progress has been made to bring foundations together.
Discussions will take place in French, English and Spanish.
