WHAT: A briefing/strategy session/networking opportunity for North American and European funders and foundations that work on conflict prevention and resolution; international security politics; and peace and justice.
WHEN: Starts with dinner on May 31 and will end by mid-day on June 2.
WHY: A rare opportunity to receive an in-depth assessment of Europe’s foreign, security and peace policies and capabilities from the leading European policy makers on the most pressing international security problems, and to meet with your counterparts from across the ocean. In addition, we will take advantage of the range of opportunities provided by the EFC’s “Foundation Week.”
HIGHLIGHTS: Latin music sensation and peace activist Juanes will speak about his work on children in conflict and play for us. Ivan Vejvoda, Balkan Trust for Democracy, will share lessons from the Balkans. Amb. Francesc Vendrell, (former EU Representative to Afghanistan) and Ashraf Ghani or Clare Lockhart, Institute for State Effectiveness, will provide a dose of reality and wisdom about the situation in Afghanistan. Gerard Chaliand, expert in geopolitics and armed conflict studies, will give a perspective on the changing geopolitics in a multi-polar world. We will hear from EU diplomats and European activists on the primary drivers of conflict today.

WHERE: The Square, a fabulous new conference centre, right off the Grand Place, also the venue for the European Foundation Centre “Open Days” and “Interactive Fair” and Annual General Assembly, which are running concurrently that week. The Square is at Mont des Arts 22, 1000 Brussels.
WHO: Around fifty leading global philanthropists who promote international peace and security.
