The European Foundation Centre (EFC) is a Brussels- based non-profit membership association which promotes and supports the work of philanthropic foundations and corporate funders that are based in and active with Europe. EFC is recruiting a creative, innovative and enthusiastic individual to be in charge of its new capacity building programme. The successful candidate will coordinate the training and professional development of European foundation professionals as well as further develop the programme contents and outreach.
Position Summary
The Programme Officer for Capacity Building will focus on developing the professional capabilities and skills of European foundations through: training courses; peer learning workshops; and exchange of best practices. Building partnerships and joint ventures with other organisations and institutions active in the field will be critical to the continued success of this initiative. The Officer will also advance the knowledge, research and information about the filed as such. The Officer will report to the EFC Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer, and will provide consistent work updates to the member-led EFC Capacity Building Committee.
Position Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and implement the EFC capacity building work plan.
- Organise dynamic peer-learning events for EFC members and European foundations.
- Coordinate the production of relevant publications.
- Monitor and disseminate information concerning foundation capacity building in Europe.
- Build relationships with relevant stakeholders (including research institutes, universities and various philanthropic institutions) in Europe and beyond.
- Represent EFC related to capacity building throughout Europe.
- Develop a new EFC fellowship programme for foundation professionals in Europe.
Candidate Profile
- Has experience in creating and managing learning and development programmes.
- At least 5 years of work experience in a non profit organisation or in training development.
- Self-motivated and proactive; ready to take on responsibilities and propose new ideas.
- Well organised with strong administrative and communication skills.
- Familiar with personnel development and/or continuing professional development.
- A university graduate with relevant work experience and an understanding of the non-profit and foundation sectors.
- Proficient in written and oral English with a good knowledge of additional European languages.
- Well-versed in the use of office software and web technology.
