On 31 January, the EFC submitted its contribution to the European Commission’s consultation on the European Citizens’ Initiative, one of the new tools for participatory democracy set out in the Lisbon Treaty.  The EFC also joins other European CSOs to make concrete proposals for developing an effective dialogue with the sector at EU level.  These proposals will be debated with representatives of the Commission and the European Parliament political groups in Brussels on 22 March.

The EFC pursues its efforts to contribute to the setting up of a framework and adequate tools for participatory democracy at EU level and to ensure that foundations’ specificities are fully taken into account in this process.
