Do not miss the 2010 “Civil Society Day”, which will be organised on 22 March 2010 at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels. The event will provide an excellent opportunity to review with representatives from European Parliament political groups and other decision-makers the current state-of-play regarding the European civil dialogue: how it is implemented, key actors and elements.

Background
The “Civil Society Day” is one of the initiatives undertaken by the coalition of signatories of the “Manifesto for a genuine European civil dialogue”, in which the EFC takes part, to promote a structured framework for European civil dialogue. This is essential notably in the context of the entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon and its new provision inviting European institutions to “maintain an open, transparent and regular dialogue with representative associations and civil society” and therefore recognising the participatory democracy.
