As the European Commission moves one step closer to taking a decision on the European Foundation Statute, your support is crucial in making the case.
In October 2010 the European Commission published the Single Market Act (SMA) listing 50 suggested initiatives, including the European Foundation Statute. However, the European Commission intends to prioritise the 50 proposals in the SMA according to responses to its online consultation, meaning that issues receiving only limited support may be dropped. It is therefore vital to mobilise as many voices in support of the Statute as possible.
The EFC has submitted a contribution to the consultation in which we strongly support the Commission’s proposal to move forward with the Statute and give details of how we believe the Regulation on a European Foundation Statute should look, as well as sharing our views on other relevant aspects of the SMA, such as solidarity in the Single Market, creativity and social innovation, and measures promoting a friendly legal and fiscal environment for citizens and foundations including review of the VAT regime and the coordination of tax policies. The EFC’s response to the consultation can be viewed
here.
You too can support the European Foundation Statute via this consultation. Both organisations and individual citizens can contribute. Reponses to the consultation must be submitted through the online facility on the website of the European Commission, found here. The deadline for submissions is 28 February 2011.
To ease the process, the EFC has prepared a
template response that you are welcome to use – we would be grateful if you could inform us of any contributions you may be submitting.
If you are pressed for time, the EFC can help you to enter a response to the consultation. To request further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the EFC Secretariat (legal@efc.be).
Thank you in advance for your support!
