The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the future of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP), a 400M euro initiative between the Commission and Member States. The initial funding period is due to expire at the end of 2010.

The partnership has also benefited from funding from foundations and other non-profit organisations with an interest in development goals. The consultation follows an internal review, which has recommended that the EDCTP reposition itself within the wider global R&D research community and define a corresponding new health strategy.
