FOREMAP Contributors

About Why FOREMAP? Outcomes Contributors

The FOREMAP project was co-funded by the European Foundation centre and the European commission, under its Seventh Framework Programme.

The outcomes of this project are a joint effort of a myriad of contributors.

The EFC has set-up a Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) to oversee the project’s progress and advise the EFC throughout the project. The members of the SAC are drawn from the academic, philanthropic, research and statistical fields. They are:

Marco Demarie Compagnia di San Paolo

Caroline Gijselinckx Higher Institute of Labour Studies at the Catholic University of Leuven

Veijo-Ismo Ritola Statistical Office of the European Communities

Mats Rolén Stiftelsen Riksbankens Jubileumsfond

Tobias Vahlpahl Centre for Social Investment at the University of Heidelberg

To apply the methodology at national level and undertake the survey, the EFC has contacted national researchers in each country who have are familiar with the foundation sector:

Germany: Karolina Merai, Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen e.V

Frank Schmidtke, Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen e.V

Portugal:  Raquel Campos Franco, Universidade Católica Portuguesa

Inês Seixas Duarte, Universidade Católica Portuguesa

SlovakiaLenka Ilanovska, Slovak Donors Forum

Sweden:  Stefan Einarsson, Stockholm School of Economics

Of course the outcomes of the project would have not been possible without the willingness and understanding of the surveyed foundations to which FOREMAP is very grateful.

What do you know about foundations' contribution to research in your country?

"Understanding European Research Foundations: Findings from the FOREMAP project" (.pdf 2.43MB) details the work of the FOREMAP project which developped a methodolody to document research foundations and tested it in 4 European Countries (Germany, Portugal, Slovakia and Sweden).

Foundations, associations of foundations, policymakers and scientists would all benefit from a greater understanding of research funding foundations.
