EFC’s Gender Equality and Diversity, Migration & Integration thematic networks are organising a joint meeting on 22-23 March 2016 in Philanthropy House, Brussels. On the second day foundation representatives from across Europe will dive deeper into two major issues affecting Europe (and the world) today.
The first session will look into the issue of radicalisation and how men and women are targeted and affected in very different ways. The session will also reflect on some of the repercussions terrorist attacks, such as rising islamophobia, and how this can be combated.
The second session will be about the refugee crisis. The conversation will start with a presentation from the UNHCR. The aim is to understand the current situation from a gender perspective, looking at how both women and men are affected and treated differently and a get a sense on how reception societies are coping.
In both sessions our goal is to explore what role foundations can play, given the big challenges we are dealing with. By listening to informed speakers we aim to provide the right context for foundations to exchange their (planned) strategies and action plans on the given topics.
