The European Foundation Centre is pleased to announce that Bertelsmann Stiftung’s project, Challenging Chances – Escaping Chances, will be displayed at Philanthropy House from the 29th of March until the 14th of June. The exhibition promises to be an eye-opening display of photo stories from people who have sought refuge in Germany. Bertelsmann Stiftung, in collaboration with photo agency laif, employed photographers to accompany refugees in their search for a better life. Throughout this journey – right from the start of escape, until arrival – both harrowing and tender photographs were captured and now will be displayed in the exhibition at Philanthropy House.
The subject of refugees is ongoing and no longer an abstract phenomenon. Integrating refugees through education, work and communities are matters that host countries must confront. Out of desire to keep this subject high on the agenda, Bertelsmann Stiftung’s photo project aims to shine a light on the situation of people seeking refuge and contribute to the overcoming of cultural bias.
The exhibition at Philanthropy House will display over 20 photographs and attendance is free. For more information about the Challenging Chances – Escaping Chances exhibition and its origins at Bertelsmann Stiftung, please visit the Philanthropy House website.
