The EFC’s Annual General Assembly of Members voted in new members of the EFC governing bodies at its gathering in Warsaw on 1 June. Massimo Lapucci, Secretary General of Fondazione CRT, has become the new EFC Chair; and Christina Lambropoulou, Chief Financial Officer of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, has been confirmed as Treasurer. Rui Esgaio, Secretary of the Board of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, has also been elected as a Member of the Management Committee.
The EFC membership also warmly welcomed six new members to its Governing Council: the Bernard Van Leer Foundation, Compagnia Di San Paolo, the European Climate Foundation, the Global Fund for Community Foundations, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Realdania.
At the gathering, the outgoing members of the Management Committee were applauded for their critical contributions in steering the work of the EFC: Ewa Kulik-Bielinska, EFC Chair and Executive Director of the Stefan Batory Foundation; and Göran Blomqvist, EFC Treasurer and Managing Director of the Stiftelsen Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
The Annual General Assembly also marked the end of the terms for six members of the EFC Governing Council: Fondazione Cariplo, Fondazione di Venezia, “la Caixa” Banking Foundation, Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, the Sabanci Foundation, and the Stefan Batory Foundation. The EFC thanks them for their contributions over the years.
The EFC Chair serves for three years and presides over the Governing Council and Annual General Assembly, providing guidance on the strategic and programmatic work of the EFC. The Chair also gives input on the day-to-day operational management through the Management Committee, which consists of a group of individuals representing members of the Governing Council, including the Chair, the Vice-Chair, the Treasurer and additional individuals representing members of the Governing Council.
The mandate of the Governing Council is to guide the programmatic and strategic work of the EFC. The Governing Council consists of up to 30 member organisations, which are elected among EFC voting members.
