EFC Chief Executive, Gerry Salole, was interviewed by Karen Weisblatt for Alliance Magazine’s September 2017 edition tackling the challenges associated with diversity, and the changes required to better represent society and the sector.
In recognising that ethnic minorities are under-represented, Gerry suggests that foundations would be well advised to ‘reflect the streets more’.
The article refers to several EFC initiatives around diversity including:
- the establishment of the ‘Diversity, ‘Migration and Integration Interest Group’ in 2006
- the 2009 publication ‘’Championing diversity: opportunities for the European foundation sector’’
- a peer-exchange on diversity policy and practice which will be initiated in 2018.
In recognising the need for change, the article published in Alliance describes the lack of progression in the sector while also highlighting positive opportunities in moving forward in the promotion of diversity, and its importance in representing and providing for Europe today.
