Ronald van der Giessen has been made an officer of the Order of Oranje-Nassau for his 14 years of work as Director of the Oranje Fonds in the Netherlands. Mr van der Giessen received the award at a special ceremony from the Mayor of Zeist Koos Janssen on the 20th June, in recognition of his work leading the Fonds since 2003 and transforming it into the internationally renowned organisation working on social cohesion that it is today.

Mr van der Giessen has long been a strong supporter of both the EFC and champion of European philanthropy. He is a former EFC Governing Council member (2007 – 2008) and has sat on several strategic committees, providing intellectual leadership towards strengthening philanthropic infrastructure in Europe and advancing a more favourable operating environment for cross-border philanthropy.  Under his leadership, Oranje Fonds is setting an example for the sector in responsible investment, both in the Netherlands and at European level.

On behalf of the entire EFC we would like to congratulate Mr van der Giessen!
