In the run up to EuroPhilantopics, we have teamed up with Debating Europe to launch a new debate entitled ‘How can we put trust back into politics?’. With trust playing a crucial role in determining the future of the European project, this is your chance to air your opinion on what is working, your frustrations on what isn’t, and your ideas on what can be done about it. Our EuroPhilantopics debate is already in full swing and is missing only one element – your voice – so join us now over at www.debatingeurope.eu/trust-and-politics !
More about Debating Europe
Debating Europe is a genuine conversation between Europe’s politicians and the citizens they serve – and that means taking YOUR questions, comments and ideas directly to policy makers for them to respond. From the start, they have taken a bottom-up approach, with the citizens very much in the driving seat of the debate, asking the questions they want answered and putting forward their opinions for the politicians to react. It’s also very much a European debate rather than national, with citizens and policy-makers from every country in the EU joining in.
Since its launch in 2011, Debating Europe has interviewed more than 1,100 policy-makers and experts from across the political spectrum. This includes 184 MEPs, 58 national ministers and state secretaries, 41 national MPs, 13 EU Commissioners, 7 Prime Ministers and the Presidents of the European Council, the European Commission, and the European Parliament. Each has agreed to answer some of the 55,000 comments sent in from citizens online, including from a growing 1 million strong community and over 215,000 people followers on Facebook and Twitter. Debating Europe is a project in partnership with Friends of Europe and Europe’s World.
