What do I need to access the conference?
All registered participants – regardless of vaccination or recovery status – will need to arrive at the registration desk with a negative PCR test taken within the previous 48 hours
Please note – Austrian regulation requires showing your Covid European Green Pass to access indoor venues. This will apply to several of our activities including the coffee houses, the dinners and to gain access to the Hilton Vienna Park.
What happens if I don’t have a PCR test?
You will need to take a PCR test as soon as possible and provide us with a negative result in order to register and gain access to the conference.
Information on where to go for free or paid (rapid) testing can be found here. The closest testing centre is at Stubentor (1., Dr. Karl-Lueger-Platz), just 4 minutes away from the conference venue (booking needed).
Why do I need a PCR test if I am full vaccinated or have a valid certificate of recovery?
The European Green Pass is the standard at the moment for entering Austria and accessing indoor venues, but we have looked into best practices for other events of this size and take the safety of our guests and staff with utmost seriousness. While it looks like the end is in sight for most of Europe, the Delta variant is proving to be a tough adversary, breakthrough infections are occurring, and a vaccination is not a 100% guarantee in stopping infection or spread. As such, after thorough consideration and weighing of pros and cons, we have determined that we will require everyone, regardless of vaccination or recovery status to provide a negative PCR test upon registration.
Thereafter attendees without proof of vaccination or recovery will be required to show proof of a negative PCR (every 48h). The city of Vienna has kindly provided free PCR gargle tests for daily testing. These will be made available to you at the hotel and will need to be taken on 18 and 19 October before 8:30 am.
Please note, EFC staff, regardless of vaccination status will be tested daily.
We understand that this may be uncomfortable, but we hope that all will understand the responsibility we feel towards our guests and our determination to ensure this conference is as safe and enjoyable as possible – despite these highly unusual times.
Why a PCR test and not an antigen test?
The local authorities in Vienna, as of October 2021, no longer accept antigen tests as valid proof to enter indoor public events.
If I’m not vaccinated, what do I need to know?
Registered participants who are neither vaccinated nor in possession of a valid (within 180 days) certificate of recovery from covid-19 will be required to take daily PCR tests.
The EFC will provide these tests (excluding the initial one required to register at the conference) in form of gargle tests made available by the City of Vienna and more information about how they will be conducted upon registration. In the meantime, you will need to register here to gain access to your results.
We strongly recommend you do so prior to your arrival so as to gain time.
