2017 EFC AGA and Conference
“Courage to re-embrace solidarity in Europe –
Can philanthropy take the lead?”
31 May-2 June 2017, Warsaw
Warsaw – putting solidarity in context
The EFC’s 28th Annual General Assembly and Conference took place in Warsaw from 31 May to 2 June 2017, attracting more than 600 philanthropic leaders to find the courage needed to re-embrace solidarity and how philanthropy can take the lead. Three plenary sessions addressed:
- How Polish solidarity both past and present has been and continues to be crucial in strengthening fundamental values in politics and policies.
- What shifts in attitude and ways of working need to happen for philanthropy to engage in closer collaboration with our many partners to foster truly tangible solidarity.
- How philanthropy’s contribution to solidarity around the world is best summed up as building bridges, not walls.
The conference is over but the work is not, and I hope of all us will leave Warsaw reassured that we have to keep finding the courage for solidarity in the days to come. Old challenges remain, new challenges will emerge, but one thing is certain – they won’t be overcome if we do not stick together.
