EuroPhilantopics 2020: Challenging times – how can philanthropy stay ahead of the curve?
COVID-19 and Climate – a combination of crises
Two crises, one big headache for philanthropy and European policymakers to grapple with. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected every aspect of life around the globe, from individual relationships to foundations’ operations to European and international collaboration. As individual countries grapple with various restrictions and initiatives to protect their population’s health, the outbreak also entails serious effects on the economy and the social sector. How is philanthropy responding to the evolving crisis? What unique insight and capabilities can it bring to bear on the problems the world now faces? How are organisations managing these daily challenges to serve their purpose and adapting their operations?
The COVID-19 crisis is less than 12 months old, but the climate crisis has been critical for far, far longer. While we don’t have direct evidence that climate change is influencing the spread of COVID-19, we are very aware that climate change matters to our health and, by extension, our risk of infections. Many of the root causes of climate change also increase the risk and severity of pandemics. The 2021 edition of EuroPhilantopics will bring together European policymakers and philanthropy representatives to discuss the most important question: what can be done about these – and other – crises in future?
Day 1 (14 December 2020, 14:00-17:00 CET)

Day 2 (15 December 2020, 10:00-13:00 CET)
