The EFC Diversity, Migration and Integration (DMI) Thematic Network meeting will take place in Lisbon from 15-16 November under the title “Migration and integration in Europe: Challenges and opportunities for foundations.” The meeting aims to bring together EFC members to network, share and learn from one another and to identify potential issues of common interest.
The 2-day programme will include discussions upon recent developments in regards to migration and integration, as well as operational and strategic issues of foundations’ work. In addition to this, a practical site visit will take place and be an interesting opportunity to better know the local and national realities. Time will be dedicated to exchanging details on current, upcoming or planned work or emerging issues.
Confirmed panellists are:
- Demetri Papademetriou (Convener of the Transatlantic Council on Migrations; President Emeritus, Migration Policy Institute,
- Pedro Calado (High Commissioner for Migration, Portugal),
- Jordi Vaquer (Regional director for Europe at the Open Society Foundations and a co-director of the Open Society Initiative for Europe)
The site visits will include a walking tour through central Lisbon, and a chance to meet grassroots organisations working on a range of social inclusion projects.
The meeting is open to funders whom are active and/or interested in issues of migration and integration. Please contact Silvia Balmas for any further information you might need.
