In his latest post, Ford Foundation President Darren Walker describes the reflection process his organisation is undertaking to ensure that their programming revolves around the global crisis of inequality. The post traces a path from the origins of modern philanthropy to arrive at a 21st-century view of inequality – the root cause of poverty.

Mr Walker also points out that “while inequality certainly merits attention and effort, some have fairly pointed out a tension—if not a contradiction—between philanthropic efforts to address inequality and the structural economic realities that make it possible for foundations to exist at all”.
